Essentials: Back to Basics

Each hair type comes a with a different set of needs.

And usually a generic shampoo formula just won’t do it. To embrace all kinds of hair and provide special nourishment to each type, Davines crafted the Essential Haircare line.
In this guide we are going to show you

  • What each product can offer

  • Which one you should choose

  • Where they are sourced from.

Yes, where they are sourced from! Now, of course the Essentials are all free from sulphates, parabens and any nasties, but that’s just the beginning of the amazingness. Each one of the product’s primary ingredients is sourced from a specific farm local to the production facilities in Parma. Cool right?!!!!  This is all a part of Davines partnership with the non-profit Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity this partnership is called the ‘Davines Slow Food Presidia’ and was created to encourage the biodiversity of the planet. The Presidia sustain quality production at risk of extinction, protect unique regions and ecosystems, recover traditional processing methods, safeguard native breeds and local plant varieties.

Fun facts about these products:

  • Essentials Haircare line was created with energy from renewable sources in mind.

  • The plastic / packaging they use is Zero Impact® – carbon neutral and is created using the minimum amount of food grade plastics necessary.

  • Many of the ingredients grown for the Essentials Shampoos are rare and are being maintained specifically for their excellent cosmetic properties.

Let’s introduce you to them!

Created using

Caper Blossom extract in order to maximize the life of your hair colour and leave your hair feeling shiny!

MINU : Minu is the Essential shampoo for those of you that colour your hair. They named it MINU because it’s short for ‘illuminating’ Its foam won’t impinge on colour but it will most certainly cleanse. It promotes plenty of shine and hydrates at the same time. Plus! It has a good supply of quercetin and polyphenols, which guard the hair against discolouration. #winning

MOMO IS LIGHT

in texture, but packs a punch in hydration. Its amazing natural active ingredient is Cartucciaru Melon (that’s a mouthful!) This special melon extract gives it a long-lasting moisturising effect, leaving it feel smooth, soft and hydrated.

If you have dry hair that needs an extra boost of moisture to help bring it back to life, MOMO is short for - moisture and it’s the one you want.  Dryness and friction can cause hair to loose moisture causing tangles and knots. Moisturising shampoos should make up for that, but as many shampoos can dry out hair if they have strong cleansing ingredients, so it’s important to look for one that is created with the intention of rehydration.

Utilizing

pronounce it with me now 'Fiaschetto Tomato’ to boost its antioxidant properties and nourishing capabilities.

NOUNOU: Short for Nourishing, NOUNOU is a the Davines Shampoo of choice for you if you highlight or have damaged your hair. It is a great protein shampoo to help build back up the integrity of your hair. Damaged hair can feel dry and rough. It can also break easily, look dull or limp, and be prone to absorbing scents or gathering buildup. The right shampoo for damaged hair revives strands with nourishing ingredients and repairs its structure and overall look.

Davines

has come up with a shampoo just for those that really really feel they need to wash their hair every day. The formula should maintain the balance of the hair and scalp, while gently cleansing it at the same time. Also. The Red Celery extract contained in it (cultivated in Orbassano, Turin, Italy) helps to restore the minerals that we strip out of the hair with too much washing. Plus! It’s extra light and brimming with all the natural good stuff that gives your hair a beautiful shine.

THE ANSWER

to any issues caused by product overload? A great deep cleansing shampoo. This will cut through grease and product residue with ease. Meet SOLU. It’s the Davines shampoo that is made specifically for clarifying your hair from excessive products. Deep cleansing shampoos should strike a fine balance between gentle and effective. Heavy-duty washing capabilities are desired, but they can’t be too tough, otherwise, hair will feel dry and stripped of healthy oils. These shampoos are also meant to be occasional use products rather than a daily staple. SOLU’s special ingredients include Buckwheat from Valtellina and unsurprisingly, it does what it is supposed to do - make your hair squeaky clean.

Seek out

a shampoo that’s kind to the hair but effective on build-up and oil, as well as one that provides body, shine and an overall lightweight feel. VOLU is the ultimate shampoo for those with thin and limp hair. It has Caprauna turnip extract, which descends from a Slow Food Presidium in Cuneo, Italy. is full of vitamins and minerals that give the shampoo its ability to provide volume, including iron and phosphorus, as well as vitamins A, B, and C. The Caprauna Turnip extract helps to plump the hair up while maintaining it’s softness and ability to style. Pair this shampoo with the DEDE conditioner because it is also light and great for fine hair textures.

Combatting Frizz

often starts with using the right shampoo. Washing with a formula meant to diminish frizz, you’ll find hair that’s sleeker and better controlled even before styling. Shampoo is the foundation and can make a huge difference in comparison to generic versions that may cause too much friction and dryness (thus leading to frizz). Olive extract leaves hair feeling amazingly smooth and silky like. Plus, Its creamy texture gently coats the hair with a nourishing layer, lathers into a foam and washes out, leaving strands shinier, smoother, and softer. Winning ingredient: Minuta olive extract from Ficarra, Messina, Italy. it’s rich in vitamins and fatty acids, which embellish the shampoo's ability to nourish, soften, and moisturise.

Anyone searching

for a top shampoo for curly hair should expect one that caters to the shape of the curl and nourishes the hair without affecting the texture. It should also help out with common areas of concern, like dehydration, frizz, and damage.
Its helpful ingredients, Noto almond extract is a powerful force in the formula. Coming from a Slow Food Presidium in Noto, Siracusa, Italy, it’s rich in proteins, B-group vitamins, vitamin E, unsaturated fatty acids, magnesium, iron, potassium, copper and phosphorus. LOVE/curl will enhance volume and boost elasticity.
